Pre-COVID Intro to International Relations

Description

This course offers a basic introduction to International Relations, its historical context, main theoretical approaches, levels of analysis and the most important transnational issues. Students will be introduced to the main International Relations theories of Realism, Liberalism, Constructivism and others. They will also learn about the nature and role of the modern state and other non-state actors in the international arena such as individuals, intergovernmental organizations, international institutions and NGOs. Special emphasis will be placed on the topics of war and peace and human rights. At the end of the course, the most important transnational issues will be discussed.
